Character Development Program

The Medal of Honor Character Development Program, designed by educators, provides resources built on the values of courage, commitment, sacrifice, citizenship, integrity, and patriotism. Its living histories and accompanying lessons teach students that ordinary people can meet great challenges and make the world around them a better place. The program makes abstract principles concrete via the oral histories of Medal of Honor Recipients and everyday heroes. Each lesson highlights skills such as writing, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Resources are appropriate for K-12. Assignments and activities fit efficiently into existing disciplines, time periods, and schedules. For all ages and circumstances, the overriding message is that every person has within them the capacity to be a hero.
