List the six core values on the board. Have students think-pair-share a personal connection they have made with one of the core values.
On the template labeled “My Personal Connection,” have students write about and draw a picture of a personal connection they have made with one of the six core values.
Whole Group Activity:
Brainstorm patriotic symbols that students have learned about this year, and list them on the board.
On the template titled “My Favorite Patriotic Symbol,” have students write a sentence about and draw a picture of their favorite patriotic symbol.
Staple the cover to the three templates the students have completed over the past three days.
Have students color the covers of their Medal of Honor booklets.
As students complete their booklets, have them come to the rug for Author’s Share Chair. During Author’s Share Chair, the student sits in the teacher’s chair and shares his or her booklet with the class. As students finish their coloring, they will come to the rug to listen to the authors and share when it’s their turn.
