National Medal of Honor Day and Citizen Honors Awards

The Medal of Honor Recipients award three United States citizens the "Citizen Service Before Self Honors" near the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington Cemetery every year on Medal of Honor Day, March 25. Two awards are given for a single selfless act and one is given for lifelong service to one's fellow man. The Medal of Honor Recipients give this award as a way to say thank you to Americans whose actions have defined the word courage.

Wreath Laying Ceremony
2 p.m. – 2:20 p.m.
Tomb of the Unknowns, Arlington National Cemetery ....
Citizen Service Before Self Honors Ceremony
2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Plaza below the Tomb of the Unknowns
In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held inside WIMSA
